Formats, measurements & file privacy

Open your files: STEP/STP, IGES/IGS, STL, OBJ, glTF/GLB, 3DM, PLY, 3MF, FBX, IFC and other supported formats. Include companion materials and textures, or use a ZIP. Larger assemblies work best on a desktop.

Explore: drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag or use two fingers to pan. Use the toolbar to fit your model, change views, inspect parts and measure geometry. On a phone, swipe the toolbar to reach more tools.

Make it your view: choose a light, dark or custom background. For models with separate parts, use Explode and adjust the slider. Reassemble returns every part to its original position. Measurements and exports use the assembled model. For combined STL meshes, Find separate pieces can identify disconnected geometry.

Measure with context: measurements default to millimetres; choose mm, cm, m, inches or feet for converted results. Confirm the File units assumption for formats such as STL that do not specify units. Mesh dimensions, surface area and volume depend on the source geometry and tessellation. Section views are a visual inspection aid; they do not alter or export the model’s geometry.

CAD views and finishes: click the XYZ axes or choose an XY, XZ or YZ plane. Switch between orthographic and perspective views, or cut along a plane. Try aluminium, steel, painted metal, plastic, rubber, glass, brass or copper under studio lighting; Original restores the file’s appearance.

Your files stay on your device: local files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded or saved to Aries Tech. Viewer libraries and lighting assets download as needed. Models opened from a URL must allow browser access; sharing works for hosted URLs, not private device files.
