ADR 13: Vehicle Lighting and Installation

Lighting equipment and the way it is installed are related evidence questions. Start with the complete vehicle configuration, not a lamp in isolation.

Check applicability first

The vehicle category, build information, approval pathway and proposed configuration need to be identified before selecting an applicable edition. Use the official catalogue and legislation; the latest published edition is not automatically the right edition for every existing vehicle.

Installation is part of the question

For a lighting enquiry, identify which lamps have changed, where they are installed and whether bodywork or other equipment affects them. Product information can help identify the lamp, while vehicle photographs show the installation context. A marking alone should not be treated as a complete review of the vehicle.

What to send

Include the vehicle make, model and year, front and rear photographs, close-ups of lamp markings and a description of any changes. If there is an existing report or approval record, send the complete document and the product identification it covers.

Common questions

No. The installed configuration and the applicable requirements still need to be reviewed.

Tell us what you need

Send the vehicle make, model and year or range, the component details, or a short engineering brief. If you are unsure about the technical pathway, tell us the outcome you want.
